Car Wreck!!!!! and Thankfulness!

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:11 am by mshanane

Hello,

I am writing this post from my bed. On Friday night I took my kids and my daughters friend to see my son preform “Romeo and Juliet” at Samuel Grand Park. They were the warm up act. Then we stayed to see, “All’s Well that Ends Well”. Both really great shows.

We enjoyed it greatly. Had a wonderful time with all of our friends from the homeschool co-op.

However on the way home from the show, this man was doing that creep out into the lane thing. He couldn’t see around another large car and popped out in my lane. I hit him HARD! My radiator exlpoded. My seatbelt grabbed tight.

The kids are all okay! Thank God! I have bruises across my chest. The paramedics called it seatbelt rash. More than a rash I would say. It is very painful!

Today I went outside, my daughter had pulled the car up into the driveway from where the tow truck had left it in near the curb. It is a mess inside and out.

We took a drive to the store in the van and while we on our way home, she said that if her and her brother had gone to the restroom before we left the park that we would have missed the accident. I told her maybe, but maybe it was suppose to happen. It was meant to be.

Perhaps it is a wake up call a call to pay more attention to the world around us. Be more observant in our daily life.

I am very thankful that the only serious injury is to my car and not to myself or my kids.

I am thankful that the other driver is insured, because in that neighborhood it could have gone either way.

Thankful that I have good friends who are able to help me with things I need.

Thankful that while we were waiting in this neighborhood that the police stayed with us until another male got to us.

Thankful that the policeman who took the report had a sense of humor. He called it “black on black crime” Because my Honda is black and his Toyota was black.

Thankful that the paramedics who came out were nice and understanding.

Count your blessings. Even in the small things.

Spinning Class

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:43 am by mshanane

Hello all.

Back earlier in the spring. I decided I should probably try to make some money this summer. So I posted on a few lists that I would be teaching some knitting and spinning classes. I didn’t get much interest in the knitting but I did get some interest in the spinning. Two ladies decided they would like to give it a whirl (pun intended).

Last Saturday was our first class. It was fun. Only one student showed up, the other was confused as to where we were going to meet. But it all worked out this weekend and both students showed up. One with her homework all done. I was very proud. The second student we got her all started and she was doing well.

I do however find it a bit ironic that ‘I’ am teaching people how to spin. I am the youngest one in the group and ‘I’ am the teacher.

It makes me feel good to share and old craft with people both young and older.

Cell Memory Vs Gift from God

Posted in Dear Katie, Knitting, Life, Religion, Uncategorized at 6:09 am by mshanane

Tonight a friend (Hi Mary) and I were talking about cell memory as in DNA. Ok, To be honest, I don’t think that there is anyone out there with “original” talent. I believe that somewhere in family history someone did it just as well if not better that we do it.

I have always felt as if something was guiding my hands when I knit, crochet, spin, embroider, tat. My mom had these skills, she learned them from people in her family.

My friend has healing abilities. Katie has talents that she can speak about herself if she chooses too. I am sure someone, somewhere in her family roots had this talent too.

To put it short, I think families were given gifts from God. And that those talents have to be nurtured and brought forward. How would I have known that I had a talent for knitting if I hadn’t picked up a pair of needles, met some super people who encouraged me, oft to the point of enabling.

Talents can lay dormant in people until they are pulled or pushed to the forefront or fingertips. Then they just seem to flow and “click”. I hear this word all the time “it just clicked” “i just knew how to do it”.

It is part of your DNA. DNA is a gift from God and your talent was nurtured by people around you. You allowed it to flow out of you and voila!

Ok…these are my thoughts for tonight. Rambly? Your Thoughts?

Praying for Peace Days Approaching

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:02 am by mshanane

The end of next week brings us to our small but meaningful effort in the peace process.
On the last and first day of the month we ask that you our readers set aside a little time on these days to think, pray for or do something for peace. Knit a few rows in honor of peace, say a little prayer in your own way. Journal about or just send good thoughts out into the world for peace. Spend the noon hour your time for peace if you can.

Please stop back by on the first and leave us some feed back let us know if you personally felt anything. We would love to hear how you feel your prayers are being answered.

Again that is on 31st and 1st.

Every prayer helps

One stitch at time.

I am 100% behind her on this. Let’s make it happen readers. You don’t have to knit or crochet she is taking all media.(Is that the right word?)

Let’s make Peace on Earth. Let it begin with YOU!!!

Our Peace Project! Knitting for Peace 2 days Per Month

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:10 am by mshanane

Ok,

Here it is the beginning of the New Year, and I think we should start something special here on this blog.

Basically, you don’t have to knit anything in particular, it’s not a KAL. It’s not a charity project.
It is two days on which you dedicate the first row or the first hour of your knitting time to thinking about world peace. Praying for world peace or just sending out good mojo for world peace. ;)

We ask that you do this on the last day and the first day of the month.

So on December 31st and Jan 1st
All you have to do is knit and think or pray for world peace.

Peace in Iraq
Peace in Afghanistan
Peace in Isreal
Peace at home.

Where ever you think peace is needed pray for peace while you knit.

Please come back and post what you thought about how it made you feel etc.
Let us know if you think this is a good idea.

Well, well.

Posted in Dear Hanane, Knitting, Life, Religion, Uncategorized at 1:23 pm by Katie

Dear Hanane,

Well, this is a long overdue post! Sorry for not posting sooner. The carpal tunnel does me in sometimes! Too much time typing and not enough time creating and knitting. Sigh. The knitting, it has been sadly neglected. My own knitting blog has not been updated in almost a month! I wonder if people think I have abandoned knitting for other creative pursuits?? Actually I have been cooking and baking up a storm these days, but we can talk about that later. If I can just figure out how to budget the computer time, and remember to do my carpal tunnel stretches…….

I had a completely different topic for today, but I read your post Hanane. Very well put. And I could not agree more. If everyone took a look at a group of people that they dislike (hate is such a strong word) and think WHY do they dislike them?? Because someone told you to?? Because the media portrays it as such??? Because you were hurt by one person of a specific race, religion or sexual orientation and therefore ALL people are like that??? If we all search for something in common, we would find out we are not all that different. Sounds like looking at the world through rose colored glasses doesn’t it?? Well, let’s put them on for ONE DAY, and reach out, find the common ground and share. I wished we lived closer, because this would make for one hell of a knitting group, don’t you think??

For the record, I just cannot join Ravelry. Nothing against the fine folks over there, and I do know I am missing all the fun, but I can’t. I can barely keep up with all my blogs (and if you read this you know I post one for every four of Hanane’s!! I’m bad, I know) so you’ll just have to be my eyes and ears over there!!!

And for all of you who visit this blog, thank you!! It’s all about peace here, and I’m a peace junkie too, Hanane! I’m working on some cool buttons so Y’ALL can post ‘em on your blog and get others to spread the peace! We knitters are a magical group! Maybe one of us should run for president!!! :)

Love ya like a sister,

Katie
